Not so long ago I spent a fortune on a quite famous premium anti virus software which I'm not willing to mention its name. Have to confess that I loved the software at first and trusted it to some extent.
What I failed to realize was that week after week an unknown malware was accumulating its data for a big cyber hijack.
The particular anti virus software on my sweet new expensive laptop detected none of it.
Tried what I could to get rid of this virus but failed and my hard disk drive ended up corrupt. My brand new laptop had to be sent back to the manufacturer who brought a better one. Before that the provider of the premium antivirus was contacted and luckily I got my refund. While at college I told one of my mates who recommended a (wonderful and) free antivirus and told me never to purchase an anti virus.
Up until today the antivirus that was recommended by the guy is what I use on my now old laptop and I have to say that it's been wonderful. Wasn't a user friendly antivirus software when I first installed it but they've made it a lot better recently - after few updates. It is very customizable and user friendly, and I have to say on securing your computer, it is very good. One negative point on this good antivirus software is the size of virus database which I honestly don't think is large. But I think the automatic virus engine makes up for it and by that I mean the antivirus automatically detects malicious files performing malicious activities.
